Taxi from Banjul Airport to Sanyang and Kartong
A taxi from Banjul International Airport to Sanyang, Gunjur or Kartong costs £25 per car with us, about D2,500, for up to 4 people. Sanyang is about 40 to 50 minutes away and Kartong is closer to an hour. We meet you in arrivals and take you straight down the coast road to your lodge.
The drive
From the airport we head south through Brikama and down to the coast. The roads get quieter and greener as you go, with palm trees, small villages and roadside fruit stalls.
About the south coast
This is the quiet side of The Gambia. Sanyang has wide golden beaches and a handful of beach bars cooking fresh fish. Gunjur is a fishing town with a busy beach in the afternoons. Kartong is right at the bottom of the country by the Senegal border, with eco-lodges, a reptile farm and some of the most remote beach on the coast. It's perfect if you want peace and quiet. If you'd like to see the busier resorts or do day trips, we're happy to pick you up from the south coast too.
